Body Massage
Massage involves using the hands to perform different types of movements and techniques on the body. Massage can be performed on many parts of the body, but the most common part is the back. This is aimed to provide relaxation, healing and detoxification. The main techniques used to perform a massage include stroking, kneading, rubbing or pressing on the body. Other methods use direct hand pressure on the skin or either through the clothes. This section of the site will help you learn more on massage and also give you tips and different techniques to perform a massage.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is an ancient art, which involves the use of natural plant oils for healing, cleansing, and relaxation. The art of aromatherapy is used to restore the harmony of the body and mind. Oil's and essences are harnessed from plants, flowers and resins, and are applied using massage or essence producing products, such as oil burners and hot water.
The pure essential oil is the vital ingredient in any type of aromatherapy treatment. These oils are very different from day to day oils such as cooking oils. They are oils that are much more concentrated and are lighter than water and highly flammable.
Essential oils are measured in drops as they are very concentrated and tend to evaporate quickly. To reduce evaporation the oils tend to be mixed with other ingredients such as massage oils and water.
Essence is a natural living substance of a plant. The extraction of essences is a very delicate operation and can be very time consuming.
The essences can be extracted from anywhere from in the plant, such as the petal, stem, seeds, stalks etc.
Essence oils are easily penetrated into the skin due to their high concentration. As these essences are evaporated they are also inhaled via the millions of sensitive cells in the nasal passage. These cells send messages to the brain and therefore enhance both physical and psychological well being.
Swedish
This is the most commonly used massage in this country, the 'Swedish Massage'. It involves applying sensual massage oils to the client before using a range of different hand strokes and a certain amount of pressure on the body. The most common part of the body for a Swedish massage is the back. A massage session can last up to an hour, with extra time to relax, having had the massage treatment.

Exfoliation
Our skin is our largest organ. It protects us from the elements and is the first line of defence against dozens of things that we come into contact with on a daily basis. As such, skin needs some tender loving care from time to time. The skin regularly grows new skin cells and sheds dead skin cells which is the reason why we have to exfoliate.
Body exfoliation products are commonly made with salt crystals or sugar crystals that are packed in some kind of skin-friendly oil such as olive oil or jojoba oil. These products also often include essential oils extracted from plants such as lavender or lemongrass. When the product is rubbed over the body, it helps to loosen and cleanse away dead skin cells, leaving behind fresh, healthy skin.
There are also many treatments that include body exfoliation. In these treatments, the skin from the neck to the feet is scrubbed with an exfoliant, rinsed clean, and may also be treated with a body masque. These treatments, which can be very indulgent and relaxing are very effective at exfoliation.
